-Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
-Tape measure or ruler
Gauge: 4” = 12 stitches and 9 rows in single crochet stitch
Finished size: Circumference will stretch to about 15”, length from top of crown to bottom edge is about 7”. This should fit most newborns up to 3 or 4 months old.

SC = Single Crochet
ST = Stitch
Notes about the pattern:
-This hat is worked in continuous rounds, do not join or turn at the end of each row/round. Use a stitch marker placed in the first SC of each round to keep track of your progress.
Round 1: Start with a magic loop. Make 10 SC into the ring, pull tail to close ring tight. Place marker in first SC (10 ST)
2: 2 SC into each ST around (20 ST)
Round 3 – 6: 1 SC into each ST around (20 ST) //work even for next few rounds until hat measures approximately 5” from start //if you want a taller hat, work additional rounds here until desired length is achieved Round 7 – 8 : *SC 2 together, 1 SC into next ST* repeat from * to * around (15 ST)
9: *SC 2 together* repeat from * to * around (10 ST)
Round 10: *SC 2 together* repeat from * to * around (5 ST)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the hole closed, weave in all ends.

Row 11: Repeat row 7
12-21: Repeat rows 8-17 (or until desired length is reached)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
